Man U release Greenwood..."no crime, but responsibility"[править]

English Premier League club Manchester United has terminated the contract of striker Mason Greenwood after he was accused of attempted rape and assault.

The club released a statement on its official website on Nov. 21, saying it had "concluded an internal investigation into Mr. Greenwood's allegations" and announced the termination of his contract.

Greenwood was charged with attempted rape and assault in October of last year.

He was scheduled to go on trial on Nov. 27, but local police and prosecutors announced in February that they had dropped all criminal charges against him.

Manchester United has been debating whether to reinstate Greenwood while it conducts an internal investigation.

The following is a statement from Manchester United.

Manchester United has concluded its internal investigation into the allegations against Mason Greenwood.

Our process began in February 2023, when all charges against Greenwood were dropped. Throughout, we considered the wishes, rights and perspectives of the victim, alongside the club's standards and values, and sought to gather as much information and context as possible. This meant we had to proceed with sensitivity and care, seeking evidence that was not in the public domain, including from people with direct knowledge of the incident.

Based on the evidence available to us, we concluded that the material posted online did not provide a complete picture, and that Greenwood did not commit 스포츠토토 the crimes with which he was originally charged.

Still, as Mr. Greenwood has publicly acknowledged today, he made a mistake for which he is responsible.

Everyone involved, including Mr. Greenwood, recognizes the difficulties he faces in restarting his career at Manchester United, and it was therefore mutually agreed that the most appropriate course of action would be for him to leave Old Trafford and do so. We will now work with him to achieve that outcome.
