Klinsmann shouts 'win' as Asian Cup first-round opponent is Bahrain[править]

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) 2023 Qatar Asian Cup schedule has been released.

The AFC Asian Cup Organizing Committee announced today (Jan. 21) the tournament schedule, including group stage venues and kick-off times.

Jürgen Klinsmann's men will kick off their Group E campaign against Bahrain at 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. They will face Jordan at Altumama Stadium on Jan. 20 at the same time, followed by a second match against Kim Pang Gon's Malaysia at Al-Janub Stadium five days later.

The Asian Cup features 24 nations competing in six groups. The top four teams from the 12 first- and second-place finishers in each group, as well as the top three, will qualify for the round of 16. If Group E's South Korea finishes first, they will face the second-place finisher from Group D in the Round of 16. One of Japan, Indonesia, Iraq, or Vietnam will be their Round of 16 opponent.

Qatar hosted the World Cup last year, so there are plenty of familiar venues for Korean fans. The opening and final matches will be held at Lusail Stadium, where Lionel Messi (Inter Miami) made history as a member of Argentina's national team. The final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar between Argentina and France was held here. This is where Messi won his first World Cup.

The self-proclaimed "Tigers of Asia" will be looking to win their first title in 63 years. Having won the first edition in 1956 and the second on home 바카라 soil in 1960, the Koreans have never lifted the Asian Cup trophy. They have slipped away from the top spot time and time again. They finished runners-up in Australia in 2015 and were eliminated in the quarterfinals in Qatar in 2019.

The will to win is as strong as ever. Klinsmann, the head coach of the national team, has been chanting "win the Asian Cup" since he took over in March. This is the closest major tournament to South Korea since Klinsmann took over, and the players are fired up.

It will be interesting to see if 'Captain' Son Heung-min (Tottenham) can win the Asian Cup after a career that has been far from trophies. Heung-min has had a spectacular individual career, but he hasn't tasted victory with his national team or club. Given his age, this could be the last Asian Cup of his career. In fact, it could be his last chance to win the title.

The squad is in good spirits. The summer transfer window saw Lee Kang-in (Paris Saint-Germain) and Kim Min-jae (Bayern Munich) leave for big European clubs, boosting their stock. The number of Europeans in the national team has also increased. While Son Heung-min has maintained his form, the quality of the squad has increased. It will be important to see how well Klinsmann leads the team for the rest of the season.
