Cho Kyu-sung's team' Mitchellan responds strongly to "1-year ban[править]

Cho Kyu-sung's Mittwillan responded quickly to racism.

Mittwillan lost 0-1 to Brønnby in the fifth round of the 2023-24 Danish Superliga at the MCH Arena in Herning, Denmark, at 1:00 a.m. ET today. The result leaves Mittwillan in fourth place with three wins and two losses (9 points).

Thanks to Cho Kyu-sung, Korean fans' interest in the team increased, but something unfortunate happened. On Nov. 18, Mittwillan played OMONIA of Cyprus at the MCH Arena in Herning, Denmark, in the second leg of the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) for the 2023-24 season. A Korean fan traveled to the stadium to watch the match.

The problem started before the game. In the fan zone in front of the MCH Arena, a local Danish spectator ripped the Korean fan's eyes out. This was meant to mock Asians by portraying them as having small, torn eyes. It is a clear racist act.

Mittwillan responded quickly. "A Korean spectator was subjected to racial abuse in the fan zone before the match against Europe. The club was aware of the incident during the game and immediately decided to apologize to the Korean spectator on behalf of the club and take follow-up action."

"The local Danish spectator apologized personally to the Korean fan. They said that the issue was resolved because they realized that their behavior was unacceptable and hurtful. The club continued to communicate with the Korean fan. The Korean fan had no intention of pursuing the incident further and was satisfied with the way it was handled on the day."

Meatwillan also recognized the seriousness of racism and took a strong stance. "We gathered additional data and held multiple meetings to get a full picture of the incident. We decided that this was not something that could be dismissed as an interpersonal issue."

Mittwillan has handed down a one-year stadium ban to local Danish spectators for racially abusing a Korean fan. "We have decided to ban two Danish spectators from the stadium. We met with the perpetrators and explained the ban to them."

Mittwillan also spoke out against racism. "Football should bring people together, not the other way around. We regret the incident and will distance ourselves from racism. We have a responsibility to ensure that every fan has a good experience. We have discussed the incident and will work on it for all spectators in the future."

Local fans were also critical of the incident. Many commented on Mittwillan's social media posts. "They should be ashamed. These fans spent a lot of money traveling from South Korea to this small town to watch Cho Kyu-sung play. No one wants to have a bad memory from their trip."

Korean fans also commented on the post. "Thank you Meatwillan for your quick response," they wrote, "I think many Koreans will go to the game because of your efforts."

Cho Kyu-sung realized his dream of playing in Europe when he moved to Midtjylland this summer. The move to Denmark was met with mixed reviews from fans. After the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, there was interest from European big league teams, but Cho chose to stay in the K League. Many people were disappointed to see him move to Mittwalland in Denmark, which is categorized as a fringe club.

However, it didn't take long for him to prove his choice wrong. He scored in his debut and was named the official Most Valuable Player. He was also named one of the best 11 players in the first round. His momentum was through the roof. With Silkeborg and Souferri starting in 토토 the second leg, he scored in first-half stoppage time for a second straight game. This time, it was Val. He rattled the net with a direct shot from a teammate's pass. Mittwillan won 2-0.

The team also played in the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) qualifiers. Cho scored a goal in the third round of the competition, making it three in a row for Superee. For his performance, Cho was named to the July Team of the Month. He was also nominated for Player of the Month for July.
